Coach Mariano Barreto mentioned in his post-match presser that some fans of Asante Kotoko stormed the team’s hotel to verbally assault (insults) the players before the MTN FA quarter-final clash against Berekum Chelsea
The actions of the fans, according to Barreto affected the players mentally with the boys not willing to even play the game at some certain point.
“People who are supposed to be Kotoko supporters came to where we were having our lunch to insult our players, so most of the players played today because we told them to play. I’m sure Kotoko supporters are now happy we lost, the supporters got what they really wanted”.
“I have told the management to investigate and punish those supporters who did that”.
The Porcupines will have no feel in any of the CAF club competitions next season having completed a trophyless campaign in the 2020/21 season.
