Southampton Defender Mohammed Salisu Names His Favourite Asante Kotoko Player


Southampton and Ghana defender, Mohammed Salisu has disclosed that Stephen Oduro was his favorite Asante Kotoko player.

In an interview on Ceek which was recorded last year when Asante Kotoko assistant coach Abdul Gazale and Communications Manager, David Obeng Nyarko went to Southampton to learn how the English club runs its academy.

The former Valladolid defender said he used to help his sister sell food at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium during Kotoko games growing up.

Since he grew up in Kumasi, Salisu was asked if he is a Kotoko which he replied yes, I am a Kotoko fan and added that Stephen Oduro whom the fans called Darling boy is his favourite Kotoko player.

On Kotoko partnership deal with Southampton, Salisu said; “I was very happy when I heard that as a Ghanaian so I was so proud and I hope Asante Kotoko will achieve more in this partnership”

“I used to follow the Ghana Premier League and Asante Kotoko is a big club in Ghana and I used to go to the stadium to watch matches”

“I had a sister who was selling food at the stadium so I used to go there to help her”

“Stephen Oduro was a very good player. The fans used to call him darling boy. He was so good with the ball, fantastic player”

“Yes, I’m a Kotoko fan, my grandfather is Salisu [ex-Kotoko player] so I used to watch Kotoko games every time,” he ended.
