On match day 18 of the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League, Nsoatreman and Asante Kotoko played to a goalless draw at the Nana Akromansan Park.
Despite Nsoatreman’s initial confidence in winning 3-1 at home, Asante Kotoko put up a strong fight following their loss to Dreams FC on match day 17.
Coach Seydou Zerbo fielded a solid starting lineup, including former Hearts of Oak defender Mohammed Alhassan, who made his debut for Asante Kotoko.
Both teams had many chances to score, but they failed to find the back of the net in either half. In the second half, Nsoatreman’s center-back John Koffi cleared a shot from Steven Mukwala, denying Asante Kotoko a scoring opportunity.
In the 80th minute, Nsoatreman appealed for a penalty after captain Richard Boadu was accused of handling the ball in the penalty area, but the referee disregarded the calls.
As a result of the draw, Asante Kotoko has temporarily risen to second place on the league table with 28 points, while Nsoatreman is in ninth place with 24 points.
