Officially, Asante Kotoko is yet to hand Johnson Smith a contract termination letter but he was asked to step aside by club CEO, Nana Yaw Amponsah.
His contract with Asante Kotoko will end in November and the club owes him 4 months’ salary.
So Asante Kotoko will compensate Johnson Smith with 6 months salary (4 months Salary arrears and 2 months remaining salary).
Coach Smith joined the Porcupine Warriors in 2019 after guiding Karela United to the final of the Normalisation Committee Special Competition.
He was the assistant to Norwegian trainer Kjetil Zachariassen before Maxwell Konadu took over.
The experienced gaffer was named interim head coach of the club in December 2020 before the appointment of Portuguese trainer Mariano Barreto.
Kotoko have appointed Marvin David Ocloo and John Eduafo to be the first and second assistants respectively to head coach Dr Proper Narteh Ogum.
