Asante Kotoko midfielder Collins Ameyaw has hailed Coach Maxwell Konadu for his support since his appointment as the head coach of the club.
Ameyaw was signed from Berekum Chelsea and sent on-loan at the club after a slow start to life at the Porcupines Warriors. He was recalled to the club in December 2019 after displaying impressive form at the Berekum Chelsea.
Collins had a good start to the 2019/2020 football season but injuries halted his progress and ended sharing his position with Kwame Adom Frimpong.
Speaking in an interview on the Kotoko Express App, Collins Ameyaw has hailed his manager for the opportunities given him to play a part in the campaign of the Porcupine Warriors.
“Coach Maxwell has been of immense help to me and though things were a little bit rough in the beginning, he gave me the opportunity to play and I am very grateful for the chance.”
The youngster reveals he cannot dream of becoming a great footballer while being shy of competition, adding that he can hit his full potential if he stays healthy.
“As a footballer, you can not be great when you are afraid of competition. I am happy with the competition in the team, however, all I pray for is to stay fit because things were gradually moving on smoothly for me until the unfortunate injury setback in our game against Berekum Chelsea. I am convinced that if I am able to overcome injuries, things will work well for me.”
This season, Collins Ameyaw has featured in 5 matches for Asante Kotoko but is yet to score or provide an assist.
