Former Asante Kotoko defender, Stephen Frimpong Manso has hailed the centre-back pairing of Abdul Ganiu and Yusif Mubarik.
The Porcupines boss Johnson Smith has had to settle for a defensive partnership of Yusif Mubarik and Abdul Ganiu in recent games, and the duo seems to have formed a strong partnership at the back.
The Asante Kotoko team is beginning to click in every area, and Reds boss Smith will definitely have more thinking to do as a number of players are picking up their forms having started slowly.
However, the legendary Frimpong Manso, who once coached the team in an interview with Opemsuo Radio revealed that he is thus far pleased with what he has seen in the partnership between Ganiu and Mubarik and lauded their unmatched abilities to read the game and the understanding existing between the two.
“I must confess that I am hugely impressed with the performance of Ismael Abdul-Ganiu and Mubarik Yussif. They have really indicated how brilliant they are thus far.”
He added that, “They’ve got great abilities to read the game so well and have a deeper understanding. They know who goes where and mark this player. They have all the qualities of top central defenders.”
The pair who have unsurprisingly earned a call up into the Black Stars squad preparing for the AFCON qualifying match against South Africa will be tested tomorrow as the face Hearts of Oak in the Super Clash at the Accra Sports Stadium.
