Ex-Ghana President John Agyekum Kufuor Donates GH¢20,000 To Kotoko Legends


Former president of the Republic of Ghana, John Agyekum Kufuor has donated an amount of GH¢20,000 to the Asante Kotoko Old Players Association (AKOPA).

On Tuesday, November 23, 2021, some old players of Asante Kotoko paid a courtesy call on the former president at his residence in Kumasi.

The meeting was attended by Ibrahim Sunday, Abdul Razak, Malik Jabir, Dogo Moro, George Kennedy, Ernest Appau, Opoku Nti, Papa Arko, James Kwasi Appiah among others.

At the meeting, Kufuor who was once the Chairman of Kotoko tasked the old players of the club to offer their maximum support to the Nana Yaw Amponsah-led administration to see the club reclaim its lost glory.

The ex-president after their discussions presented GH¢20,000 to the delegation led by George Kennedy to help in a scheme that takes care of the ex-players. Already, the old players are getting GH¢4,000 from Hisense after every Kotoko win in the Premier League.

The scheme initiated by the Nana Yaw Amponsah-led administration is to recognize the past players for their immense contribution to the club’s development.

The investment drive set up by the AKOPA is to help the former players and the current ones in their welfare after football.

John Kufuor commended the current Kotoko leaders in innovative ideas and sponsorships being lined into the team and entreated the fans rally behind the team and make suggestions that will help the current administration to develop the club.
