Former Asante Kotoko Head Coach, Charles Akonnor has suggested that it will take a miracle for the Porcupine Warriors to qualify to the next stage of the CAF Champions League.
The Porcupine Warriors trail Sudanese side Al Hilal following a 1 nil home defeat in the first leg of their Champions League qualifier.
The second leg fixture takes place next week in Omdurman, with almost everyone ruling out the chances of Asante Kotoko; especially after losing 1-0 in the first leg at home.
Akonnor, who is the current Black Stars Head Coach says though the odds are against his former side, he believes they can record a miraculous result to book qualification to the next stage of the competition.
“If I’m being realistic, I can say that because Kotoko lost the home game, we don’t have a chance. But there is a miracle in football, and I strongly believe that once they are determined and prepared very well, they can go there and perform a miracle,” Akonnor told Kessben TV in an interview.
Charles Akonnor was Coach of Asante Kotoko when the team made the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup in 2019.
