According to reports gathering from local portal 442gh.com, six locally-based players have been told to prepare for the Black Stars double header AFCON qualifiers against South Africa and Sao Tome.
The six are part of possible solely locally-based players to be assembled for the Black Stars next 2 AFCON qualifiers.
Following series of Scouting exercise conducted by the Black Stars coach, C.K. Akonnor and Technical Director of the Ghana FA, Mr Bernhard Lippert, the players are seen as having exhibited high-quality football knowledge and technique to play at the highest level.
They are expected to form the core of the Black Stars squad to prepare for the upcoming assignments sith the AFCON qualifiers on top of the agenda.
The six drawn from 4 Ghana Premier league clubs have had impressive performances in the 13-week old league.
Asante Kotoko trio of goalkeeper Razak Abalora, Defender Abdul Ganiu and striker Kwame Opoku are part of the list to make Coach Charles Akonnor’s team for the doubleheader games.
The three players have played key roles in getting Asante Kotoko to the top of the Ghana Premier league table, having kept an unbeaten away record so far.
Also in the list cited by our team is Top scorer Diawisie Taylor of Karela United who has bagged 9 goals in 13 matches of the ongoing league.
In-form Justice Blay of Medeama SC is also mentioned as one of the players who have excited the domestic league to given the opportunity to test his resolute with the National team.
Final on the list is Gladson Awako who has been phenomenal since the start of the league, Awako has won 5 man of the match awards in 12 games, scoring 4 goals to lift Accra Great Olympics to 3rd on the Ghana Premier league table.
Sources indicate that the coach is still scouting for more players as he intends to rely on solely locally-based players for the trip to South Africa and the home game against Sao Tome and Principe.
