Asante Kotoko Players Owed Two Months Salary Despite 40% Salary Deductions


Asante Kotoko SC are owing their players two-month salary according to a report carried by Kumasi-based Kessben FM.

The Porcupines are owing their players due to the Coronavirus outbreak which has forced football activities in the country to a halt. Per the report, the players have not received their salaries since June 2020 though football activities have been suspended.

According to Frank Owusu Ansah, popularly known as Sir Franco Nero, one player, who is an integral member of the team called him yesterday, July 27, 2020, to plead with him to speak on behalf of the players to get their salaries.

“One player called me yesterday and said boss, you guys should help us because since we suffered this 40% deduction, the money doesn’t reach anywhere. Moreover, for two months now we’ve not received our salaries and we are suffering as players and they don’t know who to ask because of the current situation at the club,” these were the words of a footballer of Asante Kotoko, according to Frank Naro.

The players and the erstwhile management led by George Amoako agreed to a 40% salary deduction few months ago due to the Coronavirus pandemic which has halted all football activities in the country since March 15, 2020.

The club has been without a management team since the dissolution of the previous management few months ago with various reports indicating that a new CEO will be announced with this week.
