Asante Kotoko striker Kwame Poku has set sights on winning the Ghana premier league goal king award with the club.
The striker joined the Porcupines this January from lower-tier side Nkoranza Warriors after a 3-week trial and hugely announced his presence at the club in February as he struck five times in his debut game at the Adako Jachie in a friendly to prove his great scoring ability to head coach Maxwell Konadu and the Asante Kotoko fraternity.
He had previously scored ten (10) goals for Nkoranza Warriors in their Ghana Football Association (GFA) Normalisation Committee Special Competition campaign.
However, Kwame Poku in an interview with Kotoko Express said, “My dream is to win laurels with Kotoko, but on the personal score, I also want to win the Premier League Goal King title too,”
“I do not have a target as to the number of goals I want to score per season because competitive football in Ghana is not an easy one for strikers.”
“The reason is not that the strikers are not good, but, Ghana is blessed with good defenders. Ghanaian clubs are very good defensively. This is a challenge and not an obstacle, and overcoming it is what I hope to do.” he said.
Kotoko in recent years have struggled to get a potent striker to win the goal king title with Alex Asamoah been the last player to earn it for the Reds.
